Veterinarian
/ Owner: Kim E. Percival, D.V.M.
Kim E. Percival, D.V.M.
attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A & M University
(yes, she’s an Aggie, but please don’t hold that against her).
During veterinary school, she focused on learning everything
possible about feline medicine. She
was an active student member of the American Association of Feline
Practitioners, and they gave her an award for her knowledge about cats.
She graduated Cum Laude from the College of Veterinary Medicine in
May of 1996.
Dr. Percival has only been
an Austinite for four years. She
was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and spent 10 years in
Houston. After graduation
from veterinary school in 1996, Dr. Percival moved to Austin to work for a
small animal hospital in the northwest part of town.
At this hospital, she saw dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, chinchillas,
hamsters, birds, and even a goat. During
this time, she observed how frequently cats became nervous from the noise
of barking dogs. Because she
loved working with cats and wanted to create a comfortable environment for
her feline friends, she decided to open the Cat Hospital of Austin.
During the planning process
for the Cat Hospital of Austin, Dr. Percival toured the Cat Veterinary
Clinic and Memorial Cat Hospital in Houston.
She would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Paula Runte’
(who was also one of Dr. Percival’s previous employers as a veterinary
extern in Houston) and Dr. William Folger for their help and hospitality.
